Glowing lava

Accompanied by a constant crackling sound, the lava slowly but inexorably flows out of the fissure. The heat can still be felt some distance away. The magma gradually solidifies in the morning air. New layers of rock are constantly being laid on top of each other. Watching this natural spectacle up close is an unforgettable experience.

Evening atmosphere on the Baltic Sea beach

When I look at this picture, I immediately think of the typical beach sounds associated with this evening atmosphere. The small waves roll lazily onto the beach and create a special sound. I hope that others feel the same when they look at it.

Threatening thundercloud

This photo shows the lower part of the huge storm front. It travelled parallel to the course of the Oder for a long time. It was very exciting to watch it during the cycle tour. It only reached us later, after we had reached a restaurant on the Oder cycle path.

Strong surf on the Atlantic coast

I was fascinated by the unbridled force with which the Atlantic waves hit the west coast of the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. My aim was to capture this feeling with the help of a short exposure time. I used a telephoto lens so that I could maintain a good safety distance.

Glacial ice on the beach

On the day this picture was taken, there was stormy weather on the black lava sand beach in front of the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. This picture is intended to convey this drama to the viewer.

Earth Power

I am always fascinated by the variety of colours in the geothermal areas. Caution is advised when taking pictures in these regions. The stability of the ground changes very quickly, so you should always make sure you are standing on solid ground. If you sink in, there is a risk of serious burns because very hot water rises in many places.

Morning light by the sea

This photo was taken in January. In this northern region, the sun does not come far above the horizon at this time, which can lead to magnificent light situations appearing over a longer period of time - very appealing for the nature lover and landscape photographer.

Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the evening

On this day at the end of May, there had been heavy thunderstorms during the day. They subsided in the afternoon and made it possible to climb the Papststein without the risk of lightning strikes. The view over the sea of fog was magnificent.

Waterfall in Iceland

This beautiful waterfall on the edge of the highlands is surrounded by huge basalt cliffs. The scenery is wild and powerful on the one hand and picturesque and intoxicatingly beautiful on the other, just like the entire volcanic island of Iceland.

Pseudocrater at Myvatn in Iceland

The pseudo-crater Skútustaðagígar at the beautiful Lake Myvatn in North Iceland was formed by steam explosions over a lava flow. I find the contrast between the yellowish grasses and the deep black volcanic ash particularly attractive. The sweeping view across the lake to the snow-capped mountains is magnificent.
