Azores - View to the volcano Pico

The driveway through grassy green meadows leads the eye to the silhouette of the volcano Pico, highest mountain in Portugal on the Azores island of the same name, which rises majestically in the distance. This intense green of the Azores seems to glow and offers strong contrasts with the blue of the sea.

Hawaii Lava Flow

The glowing lava can fully unfold its pictorial effect here because the photo was taken early in the morning in low ambient light. This was preceded by an adventurous night-time hike to the lava flow of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii.

Coastal light on Majorca

The north of Mallorca offers many landscapes worth seeing. After a marvellous hike through the mountains between Artà and the coast, I was able to enjoy some special evening light just before sunset. I captured the movement of the water using an extended exposure time to achieve a romantic effect.

Blocks of ice on the beach in Iceland

Capturing the dynamics of the Atlantic waves together with the blocks of ice from the glacier lagoon is an exciting endeavour. When searching for motifs, never lose sight of the waves, which are regularly particularly strong. Then it''s time to seek safe ground for a short time.

Evening colours

The wonderful colours that had characterised this evening on the North Sea coast inspired me to create an image alienation that gives the existing forms and structures a soft, flowing appearance.

Winter by the sea

Lofoten lies far to the north, which results in very short daylight periods in winter. The sunrise goes directly into the sunset, which can result in many interesting light situations.

Experiencing this elemental force in the first light of the new day was a particularly impressive experience. The lava flowed slowly but inexorably. I could feel the intense heat and the forces that shaped our planet were very present to me.

If you stand in front of the steep "Holy Staircase" at the top, it looks as if you are descending into a bottomless pit. The metal staircase is a very typical motif for the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, here in an unusual perspective.

Full of expectation, I had climbed to the top of the Strudelkopf to be able to look at the striking famous rock formation. The view was breathtakingly beautiful.
