Thundercloud over wide landscape

Fascinated, I looked at the approaching thundercloud over the wide floodplain landscape on the Oder River. Its enormous size was impressive. Soon it will eclipse the sun, then violent gusts of wind set in and a heavy downpour descends, accompanied by thunder and lightning. A wonderful spectacle of nature.

Strong surf on the Atlantic coast

I was fascinated by the unbridled force with which the Atlantic waves hit the west coast of the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. My aim was to capture this feeling with the help of a short exposure time. I used a telephoto lens so that I could maintain a good safety distance.

Winter coast in Lofoten

This winter impression from the Lofoten Islands in Norway was taken under exciting conditions. To capture the dynamics of the surf, I had to choose the lowest possible shooting position. The Atlantic waves come with very different force, high attention was required to higher waves in time to get out of the way.

Shifting sand dunes

Heavy dark clouds were driven by the strong sea wind over the shifting sand dune area on the Polish Baltic coast. I wanted to capture this dynamic in the picture, a longer exposure time made the cloud movement visible.

Rough coast

This photo was taken in harsh winter weather. The shooting position was not far above the water surface in order to be able to show an exciting perspective. With changing wave strength, it is important to be attentive in order to be able to bring yourself (and the equipment) to safety at any time if necessary.

This shot was taken on a dark lava sand beach on the beautiful Snaefellsnes peninsula in western Iceland. The contrast of the massive rock forms created by volcanism and the fast-moving clouds is the basis of this image composition.

Strong surf over stones in sunlight

With the help of a telephoto lens, I was able to keep enough distance from the wild surf to be able to photograph relatively safely. Caution is always advised, the waves can unleash a tremendous force.

I think capturing movement in the static medium of photography is an exciting subject. Here it was a question of choosing the right amount of motion blur - not always easy in changeable wind. An exposure time of 1/3 sec. led to the desired result.

Big waterfall in wild landscape in the evening light

Goðafoss in the north of Iceland lives up to its name 'Waterfall of the Gods'. Huge masses of water coming from the highlands make for a natural spectacle worth seeing. In this shot, the drizzle dispersed by the headwind was a great challenge. The lens protection filter, which is indispensable here, had to be cleaned after every shot.

Stormy atmosphere

The light mood shortly before the quickly approaching thunderstorm begins is always particularly exciting for me. The sun is still shining at the shooting location, but the wind is already getting stronger and blowing in gusts. Soon the first raindrops will fall.
