Lonely Baltic Sea beach

This national park on the Polish Baltic coast is a wonderful place for relaxation and landscape photography outside the main season. Vast deserted beaches, shifting sand dunes, beautiful coastal forests and much more. There was a strong westerly wind blowing when I took the photo, and I made the cloud movement visible with a long exposure of 2 minutes.

Snowstorm

During a ski tour in the Osterzgebirge mountains, very heavy snowfall set in, accompanied by strong winds, a snowstorm. Then the person walked through the snow, the photo is a real snapshot.

Thundercloud over wide landscape

Fascinated, I looked at the approaching thundercloud over the wide floodplain landscape on the Oder River. Its enormous size was impressive. Soon it will eclipse the sun, then violent gusts of wind set in and a heavy downpour descends, accompanied by thunder and lightning. A wonderful spectacle of nature.

Strong surf on the Atlantic coast

I was fascinated by the unbridled force with which the Atlantic waves hit the west coast of the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. My aim was to capture this feeling with the help of a short exposure time. I used a telephoto lens so that I could maintain a good safety distance.

Winter coast in Lofoten

This winter impression from the Lofoten Islands in Norway was taken under exciting conditions. To capture the dynamics of the surf, I had to choose the lowest possible shooting position. The Atlantic waves come with very different force, high attention was required to higher waves in time to get out of the way.

Shifting sand dunes

Heavy dark clouds were driven by the strong sea wind over the shifting sand dune area on the Polish Baltic coast. I wanted to capture this dynamic in the picture, a longer exposure time made the cloud movement visible.

Mykonos - island of the southern Aegean Sea in the golden autumn light. Now peace returns here and you can enjoy the lavish beauty of nature in this archipelago.

Endless road

In the highlands of the Azores island of Flores, a dead-straight road leads through the beautiful crater landscape. The lush greenery is favoured by regular rains that pour down from the clouds produced by the trade winds.

The fishing boat lies on the Baltic Sea beach like a hopeful splash of color. Clear low pressure with strong wind provides strong color and waving flags.

Outlook

The highlands of Iceland offer countless exciting landscape motifs. The masses of water flowing from the large glaciers towards the coast are very impressive. Here you can imagine what happens when a volcano erupts under one of the glaciers ... .

Rough coast

This photo was taken in harsh winter weather. The shooting position was not far above the water surface in order to be able to show an exciting perspective. With changing wave strength, it is important to be attentive in order to be able to bring yourself (and the equipment) to safety at any time if necessary.

Aurora borealis

Auroras are like magical plays of color in the dark sky, conjured up for us by the solar wind in the upper layers of the atmosphere. Anyone who has stood beneath this spectacle cannot escape the magic of this dance of lights. Here the rocks of the coast are the backdrop for this light show.

On the volcanic beach

This shot was taken on a dark lava sand beach on the beautiful Snaefellsnes peninsula in western Iceland. The contrast of the massive rock forms created by volcanism and the fast-moving clouds is the basis of this image composition.

On the day this photo was taken, there was a stormy wind. It was difficult to move around. I had to find a location with some protection from the wind and take a very stable position to be able to capture the special light atmosphere.

Iceland is a land of wild beauty. Unapproachable, cool and powerful, the snow-covered mountains stand out against a gray, cloud-driven sky. This cloud movement is captured by an exposure time of 72 seconds.

Strong surf over stones in sunlight

With the help of a telephoto lens, I was able to keep enough distance from the wild surf to be able to photograph relatively safely. Caution is always advised, the waves can unleash a tremendous force.
I want to show the power and beauty of this surf to those who see the pictures. Perhaps you have experienced such waves before.

Evening mood on the volcanic island Santorini

The volcanic island of Santorini is a particularly attractive photo location. The village of Oria with its picturesque view attracts many visitors and is the focus of countless photographs. Here, warm evening light bathes everything in a light yellow hue.

Coast wind

Corvo is the smallest island of the Azores. The constantly rolling surf is softened in the image by the long exposure and provides space for dark lava rocks and delicate coastal grass.

Beach grass in the sea breeze

I think capturing movement in the static medium of photography is an exciting subject. Here it was a question of choosing the right amount of motion blur - not always easy in changeable wind. An exposure time of 1/3 sec. led to the desired result.

Dresden view from the Agneshoehe

The view from Agneshöhe is dominated by the dark green of the oak trees in the foreground. Fast-moving dark cloud formations already announce the next rain shower. The Elbe, on the other hand, looks like a quiet ribbon winding through the landscape.

Big waterfall in wild landscape in the evening light

Goðafoss in the north of Iceland lives up to its name ''Waterfall of the Gods''. Huge masses of water coming from the highlands make for a natural spectacle worth seeing. In this shot, the drizzle dispersed by the headwind was a great challenge. The lens protection filter, which is indispensable here, had to be cleaned after every shot.

Stormy atmosphere

The light mood shortly before the quickly approaching thunderstorm begins is always particularly exciting for me. The sun is still shining at the shooting location, but the wind is already getting stronger and blowing in gusts. Soon the first raindrops will fall.
