Moonlight and Aurora

Two light sources were active in this shot: The aurora borealis and bright moonlight from the side, a very appealing combination for me. Patience was needed when taking the pictures, I spent several hours at this spot.

Coastal view in Norway

I had been looking forward to visiting the beautiful island of Vågsøy. The varied landscape invites a variety of activities, beautiful coastal walks lead to spectacular viewpoints. Even a wide sandy beach can be found. Especially worthwhile is a longer stay at the lighthouse Kråkenes fyr.

Winter beach

In winter, the Lofoten Islands take a break from the summer crowds. The mountainous coastal landscape has its charm at any time of year.

Morning light by the sea

This photo was taken in January. In this northern region, the sun does not come far above the horizon at this time, which can lead to magnificent light situations appearing over a longer period of time - very appealing for the nature lover and landscape photographer.

Winter by the sea

Lofoten lies far to the north, which results in very short daylight periods in winter. The sunrise goes directly into the sunset, which can result in many interesting light situations.

Light sign

In this shot, the light of the moon had illuminated the snow-covered mountains of the Lofoten Islands, along with aurora borealis in the form of a light sign. This light made the deep, cold night in the north a particularly impressive experience.

Kannesteinen

The Atlantic surf formed this remarkable rock on the west coast of Norway. The picture was taken in rainy weather, which for me fits very well with the melancholy emanating from the Kannestein.

Winter coast in Lofoten

This winter impression from the Lofoten Islands in Norway was taken under exciting conditions. To capture the dynamics of the surf, I had to choose the lowest possible shooting position. The Atlantic waves come with very different force, high attention was required to higher waves in time to get out of the way.

Fjord Light

Setting the scene in Norway''s impressive fjord landscape, with its often changeable weather and thus lighting conditions, is a challenging affair.

Rough coast

This photo was taken in harsh winter weather. The shooting position was not far above the water surface in order to be able to show an exciting perspective. With changing wave strength, it is important to be attentive in order to be able to bring yourself (and the equipment) to safety at any time if necessary.

Evening Light

I owe being able to photograph this colour spectacle in the evening sky to the fact that I was travelling with the camper van. The resulting flexibility is very advantageous for me as a landscape photographer.

Very gently the morning fog lies over the lake. The sun is already high in the sky in the time of long days or short nights.

Wild water

This picture was taken in spring. The rivers in the mountains of Norway had a lot of water, which makes the numerous waterfalls and rapids impressive photo motifs. My aim was to make the water movement visible without taking away the natural dynamics of the scene. I therefore chose an exposure time of 1/2 second.

Red clouds on the fjord

Norway is famous for its fjord landscape. I was very impressed by the narrow, deeply cut coastal valleys. In this shot, the already setting sun conjured beautiful red tones on the underside of the clouds. I used a telephoto lens to capture this special moment.

Morning mist at the lake

Norway is a fascinating country. As a photographer, I am particularly impressed by the beautiful landscapes. Impressive panoramic views alternate with natural details worth seeing. Here, dense morning fog had enchanted a lakeside.
