Elbe Sandstone Mountains view in the morning light

The ascent to the Lilienstein began early in the morning in the dark. The weather forecast had promised 85 per cent humidity, which increased the chance of seeing patches of mist in the valleys. The morning light was marvellous, giving us an unforgettable experience of nature.

Who can resist the color appeal of the bright poppies? Together with the bright barley, they are a summer classic for me and smell of hot days, warm evenings and a lightness of being.

Thundercloud over wide landscape

Fascinated, I looked at the approaching thundercloud over the wide floodplain landscape on the Oder River. Its enormous size was impressive. Soon it will eclipse the sun, then violent gusts of wind set in and a heavy downpour descends, accompanied by thunder and lightning. A wonderful spectacle of nature.

Coast impression from Iceland

I was particularly impressed by this location. In the foreground the large stones surrounded by water, then the wide bay in which the waves steadily run up on the black lava sand beach and in the background the majestic mountain range. All this offered an imposing impression, which I have captured in this picture.

Evening light spectacle in Sulawesi

After a heavy tropical rain had fallen, spectacular evening light appeared on the north-east coast of Sulawesi.

Glowing lava

Accompanied by a constant crackling sound, the lava slowly but inexorably flows out of the fissure. The heat can still be felt some distance away. The magma gradually solidifies in the morning air. New layers of rock are constantly being laid on top of each other. Watching this natural spectacle up close is an unforgettable experience.

Evening atmosphere on the Baltic Sea beach

When I look at this picture, I immediately think of the typical beach sounds associated with this evening atmosphere. The small waves roll lazily onto the beach and create a special sound. I hope that others feel the same when they look at it.

Threatening thundercloud

This photo shows the lower part of the huge storm front. It travelled parallel to the course of the Oder for a long time. It was very exciting to watch it during the cycle tour. It only reached us later, after we had reached a restaurant on the Oder cycle path.

Strong surf on the Atlantic coast

I was fascinated by the unbridled force with which the Atlantic waves hit the west coast of the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. My aim was to capture this feeling with the help of a short exposure time. I used a telephoto lens so that I could maintain a good safety distance.
